Bitcoin trades at $71,154, down 0.6% on April 13, per CoinGecko. The Crypto Fear & Greed Index plunged to 12—extreme fear—via Alternative.me. Ether dipped 0.7% to $2,201 USD.
Exchange Balances Reach 2023 Lows
Exchange balances fell to 2.3 million BTC, the lowest since early 2023, Glassnode reports. James Butterfill, CoinShares head of research, cites institutional demand. "Institutions favor OTC desks and custodians over exchanges," Butterfill said.
Outflows peaked mid-week at 1,200 BTC on April 9, per CryptoQuant. Self-custody wallets captured most coins.
Retail followed. Wallets holding under 1 BTC added 15,000 coins, per Glassnode, offsetting sell pressure.
